Director's Statement
The ideas behind ‘Trixtown’ came from my own experiences of living in Brixton during the 1980s as a struggling film maker. The story involves an artist whose work is rejected by a gallery and who then throws away his portfolio. The second character is a market trader who sells whatever he finds to make a living. Their paths are destined to cross. The sets and the puppets were all made out of driftwood and found objects. The materials helped to determine the individual characters of the of the puppets. The result has a very organic feel to it. Having worked on the film by myself for so long I was convinced that no one else would like it. This turned out to be far from the truth. The Film went on to win several international awards and has been screened in at least eight countries.
