Moron (2005)
Grad film
Directed by Milo Waterfield
Synopsis
Put-upon cartoon moron George Green is given a new lease of life when a mysterious moth visits him. But are knowledge, power and success all they're cracked up to be? One thing's for sure: the people of Anytown, UK just messed with the wrong Moron.
Director's Statement
I set out to design a simple narrative, which could be used to convey deeper, darker ideas and feelings. The film self-consciously uses imagery and structure borrowed from classic cartoons as part of its vocabulary, and looks back to the links between Vaudeville theatre and Animation. Rather than being purely nostalgic, these elements are employed to emphasise the innocence of the protagonist and his awareness of his existence as fictional cartoon character. I feel the film works as it was intended: an existential horror cartoon.
