The Eagleman Stag (2010)
Grad film
Directed by Michael Please
Synopsis
Peter’s life has been spent in both fascination and fear of his quickening perception of time with age. As he nears the end of his days, his interest turns to obsession and he undertakes progressively extreme measures to control and counter times increasing pace. Peter also discovers that if you repeat the word ‘fly’ for long enough it sounds like you’re saying ‘life’. This is of no real help to him. His answers lie in the brain of a beetle.
Director's Statement
I am a reckless man. I am a powerful being. I take the raw material of the universe and bend it to my will. I make little puppet animations. I hope that an onlooker might ask themselves- what, what is that? In mystery, there is magic. In every frame there is an imperfection, a clue that tells part of the story of how that image came to be. In understanding the process, and solving the mystery, I hope that the onlooker will appreciate and enjoy the film, that little bit more.
